Remove your address from Companies House records
Companies House is making changes to deregistration rules to allow company directors to remove some residential addresses from the Companies House register for a fee which starts at £30 (fee correct at time of publishing).
For the first time directors will be able to apply to suppress a residential address from public view if the address has been used as the company’s registered office address, this change will take place from 27 January 2025.
However, an important point to note, if the address that the director wishes to suppress is the company’s current registered office address, this will need to be changed before applying for the suppression of the home address.
The above applies to operating companies only.
If the company is dissolved or the person is no longer acting as a director, then the first part of the residential address postcode will remain on the register even after paying the suppression fee.
In order to make the appllication to suppress a home address you will need to complete a form SR01. You can use this form if, you are or were, a:
- company officer
- person with significant control (PSC)
- subscriber or member of a company, LLP, societas Europaea (SE) or eligible Scottish partnership
- officer or permanent representative of an overseas company
You will need to be familiar with the documents that contain your home address and you can check this by finding your company on the Companies House register.
Before you apply, you should read the Companies House guidance on restricting the disclosure of your information. (Any reference to ‘company’ includes limited liability partnership (LLP) and eligible Scottish partnership).
You can find out more about these changes on the Companies House website
